Review

Hellper follows the story of Jang Gwangnam, the president of Killberos, a “guard tribe” composed of youngsters who live near the city of Kana. A guard tribe is akin to a motorcycle gang, except their main purpose is to protect the citizens of Kana, namely from rival malicious gangs and criminal organizations. Gwangnam is killed in a motorcycle accident and sent to hell. He has to survive hell and try to collect 100 tickets from other residents of hell in order to make it to heaven.

This was one of the coolest webtoons I’ve ever read; the artstyle is cartoonish but well done. I especially like the shading and the meaningful use of colours. The action is amazing and the characters, if not likeable, are at least unique and interesting. I especially like the subtle details, such as the instructions on scroll speed while reading the action sequences.

Conclusion

A pretty cool webtoon with an over-the-top story.
