Someone does it. Who will? Who will take revenge? I will… I will… My tears flow into the river of vengeance. I won’t choose a method. I won’t hold my life so dear. I am a woman who roams in search of my enemies. I am the Syura Yuki. A woman of revenge.

Review

I wanted to watch the film Lady Snowblood as it's one of the main inspirations for Tarantino in his Kill Bill films. I also typically want to read the source material before watching the films so I read this four volume manga series about Yuki, a young lady who inherits her mother's vengeance in late 19th century Japan.

The plot is very pulpy in its brutality and sensational themes. Yuki as a character is very one-dimensional as her sole focus is revenge and there isn't much character development (even in character backstory) past revenge. To that end, the episodic revenge plots are inventive and I like Kamimura's restrained, almost minimalist, artstyle.

Conclusion

A pulpy revenge thriller.
