How often have I said to you that when you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth?

Past Sherlock Holmes book review:

Review

This is the second Sherlock Holmes novel, and in this one, Holmes and Watson are tasked with solving the mystery of Miss Mary Morstan, who receives a troubling message from an unknown sender.

Doyle develops Holmes' character in this book, such as by showing his cocaine addiction. Much as with the first book, this book also goes into great depth on the backstory of the case. This backstory takes place in India and features many far-stretched story elements which I won’t spoil. All I will say is the Doyle’s attempt at displaying exoticism did not age well but the story is very engaging.

Conclusion

Another Holmes tale featuring a wild backstory.
