Apple pie, huh?

Review

American Pie is a sex comedy following four high school boys on their quest to lose their virginities. The story is goofy and cringeworthy, much like how high school is.

Yes, there are definitely some themes which have aged terribly, but overall the film is lighthearted and has a wicked sense of humour. The script is very well-written; the jokes are as hilarious as they are shocking. Surprisingly the movie actually has some depth to the silly plot and the four protagonists, Jim (Jason Biggs), Oz (Chris Klein), Kevin (Thomas Ian Nicholas), and Finch (Eddie Kaye Thomas), aren’t one-dimensional and experience solid character development. The supporting characters, such as Jim’s father (Eugene Levy), Michelle (Alyson Hannigan), and Stifler (Seann William Scott), inject much energy and comedy into the film.

Conclusion

A fun coming-of-age teen comedy.
