# Review

In this animated comedy film, Steve Carell voices Gru, a supervillain looking to steal the moon. Gru adopts three children, Margo (Miranda Cosgrove), Edith (Dana Gaier), and Agnes (Elsie Fisher) in a bid to steal a shrink ray from his rival Vector (Jason Segel).

The plot is very predictable but charming and sweet.The story and humour are both very family-friendly, but there are references to jokes that adults will appreciate. The supporting cast, which includes Dr. Nefario (Russell Brand), Gru’s elderly assistant, Mr. Perkins (Will Arnett), the president of the Bank of Evil (formerly Lehman Brothers), and the Minions (Pierre Coffin, Chris Renaud, and Jemaine Clement), Gru’s adorable henchmen, are all entertaining. The soundtrack, which features music from Pharrell Williams and Heitor Pereira, is also pretty groovy. Overall the film is more on the childish side, but it’s well-made and very charming.
