That's either the creepiest... or the sweetest thing I've ever heard.

Review

Shia LaBeouf plays Kale, a teenager confined to house arrest due to an incident at school. Being a teenager bored out of his mind, Kale starts voyeuristically spying on his neighbours and starts suspecting one neighbour, Robert (David Morse), of being a serial killer.

This film feels like an edgy teenage remake of Hitchcock’s Rear Window. I could’ve totally seen myself being into this movie back in elementary or middle school but watching it as an adult, I find much of what Kale and his best friend Ronnie (Aaron Yoo) does, such as spying on Kale’s new female neighbour Ashley (Sarah Roemer), to be quite cringeworthy and kind of creepy. Despite this, outside of the duo’s immature antics, the story is actually quite interesting and Morse makes for a great (potential) villain. I also enjoyed Carrie-Anne Moss’ Julie who played her archetype very well.

Conclusion

Some of the film was so cringeworthy my girlfriend couldn't finish it with me.
