Review

The sequel of the disastrous Dungeons & Dragons is a direct-to-TV film that takes place 100 years after the events of the first film. The evil wizard Damodar (Bruce Payne) seeks revenge against the kingdom of Izmir and plans to reanimate Faluzure, an ancient dragon god, to do so.

Unlike the first film, my expectations are rock bottom for this because of the direct-to-TV release and the low budget. Despite this, this film was fun in a B movie type of way. The story is much darker and more serious than its predecessor but the dialogue is just as corny. The characters are definitely archetypical and very thin, but there are some fun moments such as the romance between the rogue Nim (Tim Stern) and the vicious barbarian Lux (Ellie Chidzey). The protagonist Lord Berek (Mark Dymond) is definitely on the stiffer end but does his job. There are definitely some entertaining moments, whether intentioned or not between the eclectic cast of characters. The film is also much less ambitious than its predecessor in its visual scale (and use of CGI), and while still not great by today’s standards, I would say the graphics are better than that of its predecessor.

Conclusion

A bit better than its predecessor but not by much.
