You're in big trouble though, pal. I eat pieces of shit like you for breakfast!
You eat pieces of shit for breakfast?
My partner is an avid golfer and I played hockey growing up so I rewatched this classic with her. Perhaps one of Adam Sandler's most iconic roles, he plays Happy Gilmore, a hot-headed hockey player who turns to golf in order to save the house of his grandmother (Frances Bay).
As with most early Sandler films, the humour is juvenile and relies heavily on slapstick jokes. Despite this, there's a certain charm to the simpleness of the underdog sports story and the nostalgia it brings to anyone who played hockey or golf growing up (I watched it during hockey camp). Shooter McGavin (Christopher McDonald) is probably one of the most iconic golf film characters and the number of iconic quotable lines in this film is very astounding.
A nostalgic underdog sports film.
