# Review

Given that I'm reading through the Harry Potter novels, I thought that I might watch the films too.

I remember watching this film with Mandarin subtitles when I was younger; back then, I was enthralled by the film, but rewatching it now, it felt a little juvenile and childish. This film is definitely aimed at a very young audience; I had to watch the film at over 2x speed to stay engaged (sacrilegious, I know). One of the highlights of the movie for me, however, is Alan Rickman as Snape; everything from his overly dramatic manerisms to his characteristic drawl brough Snape to life on the screen.

This movie deviated little from the novel; it is perhaps one of the most faithful movie adaptation of any novel. While I must voice the cliché that I enjoyed the novel more, there were aspects I genuinely enjoyed about the film, such as John Williams' score, which remains one of my favourite movie themes.

# Conclusion

I'm too old for the movie but it's an excellent children's film.
