Review

The story follows Gary "Eggsy" Unwin (Taron Egerton), a chav from south London who gets recruited into an elite British secret spy organization named the Kingsman. The members have Arthurian callsigns and are all impeccably dressed. Eggsy has to train to become a member of the Kingsman and protect the public from a global threat.

Kingsman is a refreshing spy franchise that is both entertaining and doesn’t take itself too seriously. The humour is both very British and very modern; the characters and the dialogues are very memorable. The film is corny and simple but intentionally so; it uses many well-established tropes such as the mentorship between Galahad (Colin Firth) and Eggsy. The action scenes were also well-orchestrated and the performances, such as by Samuel L. Jackson's Valentine and Mark Strong's Merlin were solid.

Conclusion

A refreshing take on the spy genre.
