Typical isn't it? You wait 20 years for a dad and then three come along at once.

Review

In this film adaptation of the popular musical, Sophie (Amanda Seyfried) is hosting her wedding with Sky (Dominic Cooper) at the struggling Greek resort run by her mother Donna (Meryl Streep). Unbeknownst to everyone, Sophie invites three men who could be her father: Sam (Pierce Brosnan), Harry (Colin Firth), and Bill (Stellan Skarsgård).

The film is lighthearted and cheesy but it’s to be expected of a romcom musical. The premise of the story is pretty interesting and the pop music by ABBA is iconic. The performances are decent; I especially enjoyed those of the three potential dads and Donna’s two sidekicks: Christine Baranski’s Tanya and Julie Walters’ Rosie. My favourite part of the film is the choreography, which is lively and energetic.

Conclusion

A cheesy summer musical with a great soundtrack.
