Kittridge, you've never seen me very upset!

Review

Based on two older TV series, this film is like an American version of James Bond; Tom Cruise stars as Ethan Hunt, an international spy working for the covert CIA-like organization Impossible Mission Force (IMF). Hunt is framed for a botched operation and while on the run from authorities, he has to uncover the actual mole within IMF.

The story is a classic spy thriller, filled with intrigue, double crosses, and plot twists. Cruise does an excellent job in the role of Hunt; like his British counterpart Bond, Hunt is suave and charismatic, but he is also more intense and more dramatic.

There were so many iconic scenes in this film; from the dramatic running to the scene suspended over a vault. The suspense is very well done and I like the innovative gadgets used by characters. As with most action movies from the 90s, some of the acting is a bit stiff by today's standards, but it's not unbearable to watch.

Conclusion

An iconic action movie that started one of the largest film franchises.
