Can I kill her now?

Review

This is a movie based on the comic with the same name and follows Frank Moses (Bruce Willis), a retired CIA operative who is forcibly unretired when his former squad mates start being assassinated. I’ll watch anything with Morgan Freeman in it so I didn’t want to miss this film.

The story is much more complex than the short story of the comic. The story is no longer about a ruthless assassin on a rampage but about a group of old teammates uncovering a conspiracy. There are multiple new characters being introduced, such as many of Frank’s old teammates and associates from his active days, as well as current CIA operatives (Karl Urban) and Frank’s young love interest (Mary-Louise Parker). Of the new characters, the older cast, such as Morgan Freeman’s Joe, Helen Mirren’s Victoria, and John Malkovich’s Marvin, are much more entertaining and bring more to the table.

The film is fast-paced and has a decent sense of humour. The dialogue is a bit bland and the story is very superficial. Despite this, it's still a fun film with an interesting premise.

Conclusion

A superficial but fun adventure.
