A righteous man before me stands. A hero in these filthy lands. A brother in arms in heart are you. I was really hoping you get it too.
Robert De Niro and Al Pacino play Turk and Rooster, two NYPD detectives on the case of Poetry Boy, a serial killer who targets criminals.
Perhaps the most thrilling part about this crime thriller is how a film with both De Niro and Pacino can be so mediocre. The script is just so generic and the characters have an NPC-like quality. The dialogue is paper-thin and filled with overly-edgy one-liners and tough guy macho talk. The film feels out of place in the 2000s and much like a B movie from the 70s or 80s. De Niro and Pacino are decent but their dry script really does not give them a chance to shine. The supporting cast, which includes John Leguizamo’s Perez, 50 Cent’s Spider, and Carla Gugino’s Corelli, all fall flat, mainly due to the poor writing.
A very generic crime thriller.
