# Review

In a dystopian Detroit, overwhelmed with crime and lack of resources, the mega-corporation OCP has taken control of the Detroit Police Department. Police officer Alex Murphy (Peter Weller) is murdered while going after crime lord Clarence Boddicker (Kurtwood Smith) and is revived by OCP as a brutally efficient police cyborg.

By today's standards the plot is corny and the special effects look dated, but there's an appeal today through the sardonic and cynical portrayal of Corporate America, especially the comedic dystopian TV ads. The performances were archetypal and the pacing is swift. There are, of course, also tons of violence.

Action thriller with good satire.
