One of a kind.

Review

Shrek (Mike Myers) is an ogre who shuns outside company. When Lord Farquaad (John Lithgow) of Duloc disturbs Shrek’s peace, Shrek agrees to rescue a princess (Cameron Diaz) in exchange for Farquaad leaving him alone.

This is perhaps the most memed about film of the 21st century thus far and it’s easy to see why. The film parodies numerous fairy tales, such as Robin Hood (Vincent Cassel), the Gingerbread Man (Vincent Cassel), and the Magic Mirror (Chris Miller). The cast also has many big names, such as Myers’ reclusive Shrek and Eddie Murphy’s talkative Donkey. The story is original and the humour has a great variety, ranging from slapstick to more intelligent jokes. The CGI does look dated today but at the time of the film’s release, it would have been cutting edge.

Conclusion

Fun film for the whole family.
