A second chance? I mean, it's a nice idea, but...
Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (from Game of Thrones) plays Joe Denton, a corrupt cop recently released from prison and trying to start afresh. Unfortunately, Joe is quickly drawn back to his old life.
Much like his role in Game of Thrones, Coster-Waldau thrives on playing a nuanced character who isn’t necessarily good nor evil, but just looking out for himself. The side characters, such as Robert Forster’s Joe Denton Sr. and Gary Cole’s Dan Pleasant were both very good. The film’s palette is very bleak, setting the tone for the film’s story. I also liked that the film didn’t explicitly portray Denton’s past, but slowly and indirectly released bits of his background throughout the film.
Not an ambitious film so expectations were low for this character study.
