I never had any friends later on like the ones I had when I was twelve. Jesus, does anyone?

Review

The Stephen King novella that this film is based on is probably one of my favourites and there are no supernatural elements nor any elements of horror. The core plot follows four boys, Gordie (Wil Wheaton), Chris (River Phoenix), Teddy (Corey Feldman), and Vern (Jerry O'Connell), who go on a journey to look for the body of another boy so that they can get famous by being the first ones to find it.

I’m not sure what it is about this film, but this film just oozes nostalgia for the halcyon days of childhood where there are no responsibilities and a group of pals can just joke around and have fun. Normally child acting is some of the worst parts of movies, but the actors in this film were phenomenal, especially in portraying the unique traits of each of their characters and the bonds that they share. Even Stephen King claims that this film is one of his favourite adaptations of his works ever.

Conclusion

A nostalgic story about growing up.
