Review

I’ll watch anything with Tom Hanks in it and in this film, he portrays the real-life Sully Sullenberger, the pilot of US Airways Flight 1549 which suffered total engine failure and was forced to land in the Hudson River. This film follows the investigation after the “Miracle on the Hudson”.

The casting is perfect; Hanks is brilliant as a weary and experienced pilot and Aaron Eckhart, who plays Sullenberger’s copilot Jeff Skiles, is great in his role as support. The film definitely unfairly villainizes the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) but I guess the film probably needed a villain. Overall it's a fantastic character study that's a tad unmemorable.

Conclusion

A feel-good story with a charming performance by Hanks.
