Wait... you changed your name to... McLovin?
The story follows Seth (Jonah Hill) and Evan (Michael Cera), two high school seniors who want to party and lose their virginity before they graduate. The story follows the two's misadventures throughout one evening, such as trying to buy alcohol while underage and crashing random parties.
This teenage coming-of-age comedy is a classic because it's so relatable for so many people (including myself). The film perfectly captures the awkwardness of being a teenager such as the external bravado fueled by deep insecurities about trying to be cool and trying to fit in. Hill and Cera have fantastic chemistry as best friends and Christopher Mintz-Plasse's socially awkward Fogell is one of the most iconic comedy characters from the 2000s.
The humour is immature and oftentimes offensive, yet it fits perfectly with the teenage setting. Mixed with the vulgar humour is also some surprising sincerity and tenderness.
A memorable teenage comedy.
