Review

This is a documentary film about the life of Lou Pearlman, a legendary music producer often credited with the boy band boom in the 90s, havign discovered acts such as the Backstreet Boys and NSYNC. The film featured in-depth interviews with band members from different boy bands, as well as from people close to Pearlman. While it was interesting learning about boy bands, especially the business behind boy bands, I watched this film because of Pearlman's other legacy, of orchestrating the longest-running Ponzi schemes in US history.

Pearlman is notorious for being the brains behind the fictional Trans Continental Airlines, which he used to dupe over 2000 investors out of over a billion dollars. It was interesting to learn about what motivates an individual to commit so much fraud and especially how, despite achieving legitimate success as a music producer, he still turned to crime to chase more success.

Conclusion

A surprisingly decent documentary made by Youtube Originals; a cautionary tale about greed and the desire to appear successful.
