It's called scotoma. The mind sees what it choses to see.
Based on the eponymous novel by Dan Brown, the story follows Robert Langdon (Tom Hanks), a professor of symbology at Harvard, as he’s embroiled in the mysterious murder of Jacques Saunière (Jean-Pierre Marielle), a curator of the Louvre. Robert, along with Saunière’s granddaughter Sophie (Audrey Tautou) unravel a millennium old conspiracy at the core of Western civilization.
The novel was fun and explored some interesting themes such as religions and historical conspiracies, and the film is a watered down version of the book. The story is interesting but definitely a backdrop for the action and thriller scenes. Hanks and Tautou are OK as Langdon and Sophie but my favourite roles are definitely Ian McKellen’s energetic Teabing and Paul Bettany’s creepy Silas. Overall the film is entertaining, and like the novel, very corny at parts.
A fun film with some corny moments.
