I live my life a quarter mile at a time. Nothing else matters: not the mortgage, not the store, not my team and all their bullshit. For those ten seconds or less, I'm free.
In this now iconic car action thriller, undercover LAPD police officer Brian O'Conner (Paul Walker) is tasked with infiltrating the underground street racing scene to investigate a string of semi-truck heists. O’Conner infiltrates a street racing group headed by the infamous Dom Toretto (Vin Diesel).
This movie is incredibly corny both in its plot and dialogue but there’s a certain appeal of the early-2000s electronica/hip hop music and flashy cinematography. The high-octane car sequences are good and I really enjoyed Diesel’s tough guy Toretto. The supporting cast, which includes Rick Yune’s Johnny Tran, Michelle Rodriguez’s Letty, and Jordana Brewster’s Mia, are all decent but largely one-dimensional.
A simple and fun car action thriller.
