Review

The Wolfpack, consisting of Stu (Ed Helms), Phil (Bradley Cooper), Alan (Zach Galifianakis), and Doug (Justin Bartha), is back at it again, but this time it’s for Stu’s wedding in Thailand. The story follows the same premise as the last film; Stu, Phil, and Alan wake up the next day with no recollection of the prior evening. This time, though, they find themselves in Bangkok and instead of trying to find Doug, they’re in search of Teddy (Mason Lee), the little brother of Stu’s fiancée.

This movie didn’t feel as magical as the first one; the chemistry between the trio isn’t as good and the humour relies too much on shock value. The characters are less nuanced, especially Galifianakis’ Alan, who feels overly childish and obnoxious in an exaggerated manner. The supporting cast, which includes Paul Giamatti’s Kingsley and Ken Jeong’s Mr. Chow, plays their role in making the adventure as debauched and exciting as possible. Overall, it feels almost as if Phillips tried to recreate the first film again by following the same formula but the resulting film became a less heartfelt and more commercial version of the original film.

Conclusion

A less heartfelt copy of the original film.
