Review

I don’t know if it’s because the first Suicide Squad movie was so disappointing, I really enjoyed this remake. The story follows a (mostly) new team of villains tasked with pursuing a suicidal mission to save the world. Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie) returns from the previous film and new characters, such as Idris Elba’s Bloodsport and John Cena’s Peacemaker, are introduced.

This film felt like an upgrade on its predecessor in almost all regards. The characters are much more flushed out and I personally enjoyed Elba’s Bloodsport much more than Will Smith’s Deadshot. My favourite character, however, has got to be Cena’s Peacemaker. Cena and Elba’s characters serve as excellent foils for one another. The dialogues are much better and I actually cared about the characters in this version.

The film still has the characteristic sense of humour, albeit more refined. Again, Cena’s Peacemaker carried the team in the humour department. With an R-rating, this film can finally take some risks with its scenes; expect plenty of violence and gore. The cinematography is also much crisper as the film does not take place solely in the dark.

Conclusion

I would love to see more of John Cena's Peacemaker.
