Review

I watched this film because the inflight entertainment console showed that the IMDB score for this film is an 8 (later I realized the actual score is <5). The story takes place in pre-handover Macau and follows Zun Fei (Shen Teng), a former boxer turned gangster who works under Taiwanese crime lord Huang Chaojin (Gao Jie). Zun Fei plans to leave his life behind with his boss' mistress Su Xiao (Zhang Yuqi).

If you're a fan of Hong Kong crime films of the 80s and 90s, then this film will be right up your alley. The retro locale with the vintage costumes really plays into the theme. The story is a classic underdog crime tale and it can be a tad corny at times with its themes of loyalty, honour, and revenge. It's also interesting to see Shen breaking type and not playing a comedic character.

Conclusion

Kind of corny but a solid plane movie.
