Review

One of my favourite things is watching movies on airplanes and I watched this on a Porter flight to SF. The film follows Columbus (Jesse Eisenberg), a young man trying to survive in a zombie apocalypse. Columbus links up with fellow survivors Tallahassee (Woody Harrelson), Wichita (Emma Stone), and Little Rock (Abigail Breslin) on a journey across the post-apocalyptic wasteland.

Typically horror comedies tend to lean more into horror but Zombieland leans more into comedy. The actual horror is pretty predictable and mostly consists of jumpscares. The road trip comedy between friends trope is pretty well-executed, though. The meek and awkward Columbus and the brash and loud Tallahassee serve as great foils for one another. There is really no central plot but the movie is great with pacing and has a very cool style, with its various rules of survival.

Conclusion

A fun buddy comedy with some horror elements.
