Review

In this brutal reverse-horror game, the player assumes the role of a writhing mass of flesh and tentacles breaking out from confinement. The player must explore the map and escape. Of course, the player must also kill the humans along the way.

The core gameplay is a hit or miss. On one hand, the combat feels fantastic with its satisfying animations, but on the other hand, the mass of tentacles can be clunky to control, especially with a controller. The puzzles are also relatively straightforward, my favourite ones being those involving using different abilities in combat. My one gripe is the lack of a mini-map; I spent a long time backtracking trying to progress through the non-linear (and very similar-looking) levels.

Conclusion

A fun idea with a healthy dose of body horror.

DLC Reviews

There is one free holiday-themed DLC.

Greatest Time of the Year

This DLC adds more of the same combat and environmental puzzles, albeit with a holiday theme. I actually enjoyed it a bit more compared to the main game due to its simpler and more linear map.
