The story takes place in an alternate reality steampunk sci-fi world where the prominent inventor Nikola Tesla (Jannik Archer) creates a base in the middle of the ocean for the world’s best thinkers and scientists. The story follows Rose Archer (Emily Moment) as she arrives at the base in search of her sister Ada (Rachel Marquez). Rose quickly realizes that something has gone very wrong.
Steampunk
The core gameplay is a walking simulator, where the character explores the various parts of the base. The story is pretty interesting and I like the various scientific references and the sci-fi themes. There is a light horror element that mainly consists of jumpscares, although I would've preferred that they flushed out the sci-fi story more instead of trying to be a horror game. The art and voice acting are probably my favourite aspects of the game; the art deco style of the environment reminded me greatly of Bioshock while the voice acting keeps the game interesting. The core walking mechanic is a tad tiresome because Rose walks extremely slowly and the game often requires you to double back to proceed to new objectives. The objectives themselves are light puzzle elements which are almost akin to quicktime events in their simplicity. There are also some chase sequences but the performance is terrible; when you look back at what’s chasing you, the frame rate drastically drops and makes the game almost unplayable.
Easy puzzles
A gorgeous looking game with some problems.
