Review

Although perhaps one of the most iconic card games, I’ve only recently picked up Dutch Blitz. The game revolves around trying to score points by placing cards in sequence Dutch piles while trying to get rid of cards in one’s Blitz pile. The game is very easy to pick up and play, but has a certain depth to it in terms of game meta.

While luck matters, the game is predominantly a game of skill; experienced players will easily dominate novice players. The name of the game is speed, so having fast reaction times is crucial. I mainly play this with my girlfriend and it can definitely get very competitive but the most exciting way to play is with all four players. The only issue that we’ve run into is that stalemates are possible, especially playing with just two players, and the game doesn’t provide an official way to deal with these situations. The players can decide themselves how to proceed, though.

Conclusion

An exciting speed-based card game.
