Review

In this comedic point and click adventure game, the player assumes control of Edna, an inmate at an asylum. Edna, along with her sentient toy rabbit Harvey, must escape the mental hospital and discover the truth of her past.

Gameplay Edna and Harvey exploring the mental hospital

The story is well done and the German humour is dark and hits home often. I especially enjoy the interactions with the various other inmates of the asylum, which are often nonsensical but funny. The dark humour isn’t just limited to character interactions, many of the situations are messed up but in a comedic fashion.

Gameplay Dialogue with a fellow inmate

The gameplay is clearly designed for PC and is a tad awkward playing with a controller. The main game involves Edna discovering the different parts of the mental hospital, collecting new items, and learning new skills. Edna has to solve the different puzzles to escape from the asylum. Some of the solutions are a bit out there and I had to look up a guide, but the bulk of the game’s fun is trying different combinations of actions with different scenarios.

The best version to play is the latest release, the Anniversay Edition. This edition has remastered graphics and a more modern control scheme.

Conclusion

A funny point and click adventure.
