Review

Hades' Star is a 2D multiplayer strategy game focused on exploring a galaxy, mining resources, and completing missions to advance your galactic corporation.

The core gameplay loops almost feels like a mobile game, one is directing different settlements and resources around the map and waiting for them to be complete. The pacing is deliberately slow with progress almost non-existent past the introduction phase. This game is designed to be play 10-20 mins at a time per day, instead of a hardcore strategy game with multi-hour sessions.

The controls are also abysmal with no real shortcuts. I tried the game on PC and it still felt clunky on keyboard and mouse. The game's inspiration is 4x strategy games like Master of Orion so the game also doesn't let users freely navigate; all units must be sent to fixed points such as planets or resources. This greatly limits the degree of strategy in encounters, especially in PvP.

Conclusion

The slow pacing and clunky controls ruin this otherwise interesting concept.
