Every date was romantic. I don't think we ever did the boring old get-drinks-in-a-bar routine.

Review

Maquette is a walking simulator in a fantastical world that explores a relationship that the protagonist experienced. The game involves traveling through the various anecdotes and solving puzzles where the game toys with the player’s perspective.

Honestly for me, the puzzle elements are interesting but the main draw is the narrative style, which features voiceovers and text that layers over the environment. The atmosphere feels weirdly soothing with a relaxing soundtrack. I also appreciate the San Francisco location, which feels oddly familiar to me.

My favourite aspect of the game is by far the fantastical environment, especially in the beginning of the game.

Conclusion

A heartfelt walking simulator with interesting puzzle elements.
