Review

In this fun co-op cooking game, the Onion Kingdom is under threat from a ravenous threat, and players must work together to operate a busy kitchen serving dishes to customers.

Level Preparing meals

The gameplay involves players cooperating to complete different tasks in the kitchen such as washing dishes, chopping vegetables, and plating completed dishes. The game gets very chaotic as the orders become more and more frequent. The artstyle is cute and charming and the level designs are interesting. There are various different mechanisms on levels, such as rivers which must be crossed and buttons which can be pressed to change the level’s configuration.

Space Fun level design

The game is best enjoyed with either two or four players; I played through the game with my girlfriend and the experience was a test of communication and patience… in a good way. It was fun developing different strategies and workflows for each level. The game is not perfect, such as the imprecise controls, but once players get used to the control scheme, it becomes unnoticeable.

Trucks Test of communication and patiences

There is also an offline versus mode where, if played with two players, the players have to control two characters each. I played several rounds and it was pretty fun, especially when you can try to mess with your opponent's work.

Versus Fun versus mode

Conclusion

A refreshing take on the couch co-op genre.

DLC Reviews

The Lost Morsel

This is a paid DLC for the main game, and introduces a new world with six new levels. The levels are decent and don't stand out against the levels of the main game. Other than the levels, there are no new content being added; the DLC uses all the same mechanics as the main game. Honestly this DLC is pretty mediocre and should've been a free update. My girlfriend and I got all three stars under half an hour.

Festive Seasoning

This is a free seasonal update and it includes eight new levels with a holiday theme. These levels are actually pretty novel, introducing new recipes and new mechanics, such as the flamethrower.
