Review

I enjoy playing failed games and I want to eventually play all the Resident Evil games, so when I saw this Resident Evil multiplayer shooter going offline, I knew I had to experience it for myself. This game was only ever released with Resident Evil Village, so I ordered a code for Village to access Re:Verse. In this game, the players assume iconic Resident Evil characters like Leon and Jill in a free-for-all deathmatch. Each of the characters have special abilities, and on top of that, after collecting Virus Canisters, the players can return upon death as iconic Resident Evil monsters like Jack Baker and Nemesis.

The game is actually pretty fun for a couple of matches but quickly gets repetitive. The gameplay is pretty simple to pick up and the meta is also quite clear. The only way to win is to collect vials to become the most powerful monsters upon death, as one will get the most points in monster form. The coins can also make the game uneven if playing against people not taking advantage of the mechanism (I won half a dozen matches in a row after optimizing coins for my builds). The game does suffer from a shortage of content, both for gamemodes (only free-for-all deathmatch) and for maps (only three maps).

Conclusion

A decent multiplayer experience for a couple of matches.
