Review

Two to four players compete to earn points by playing words with tiles. Different letters have different point values and the 15 x 15 gridded board on which players play letters also contain different point multipliers. The game involves using letters from previous words on the board to create new words.

The game is as classic as American board games get and is an excellent way for people to learn new words. I’ve only recently gotten into the game and I find the game to be most fun when playing with others who also enjoy reading, as readers tend to have a larger vocabulary. The game does have some strategy, such as avoiding opening up opportunities for opponents to get multipliers and blocking off parts of the board to prevent opponents playing. I do find that luck plays a very large role in the games I’ve played, as the letters (and also one’s turn position in the game) can make a massive difference.

Conclusion

A cerebral game perfect for people who enjoy literature.
