Review

She Sees Red is a hard-boiled interactive detective thriller. It’s akin to a choose-your-own adventure where the player makes a decision between two choices throughout the story and it drives the direction of the narrative. The story centers around a detective, after a tip, investigates a murder in a nightclub.

The story was nothing special and the entire production feels low-budget, much like a B movie but without the occasional charm. The game is also very short and can be 100% completed in under 2-3 hours; to get all the endings, the player has to play through the game multiple times, luckily the game does allow the player to skip scenes that have previously shown up. The acting was decent but also nothing to write home about. I didn’t like that the default audio was an English dub over Russian acting, so the voice and the actors’ lips were out of sync. The Russian audio option is available, however, and I’d highly recommend it over the English dub.

The gameplay itself is simple as you just have to watch the movie and make some decisions; I found that these decisions can often come without warning and feel like quick action events due to how fast you have to react. This game is meant to be an interactive movie, so you aren’t bombarded with decisions frequently and the bulk of the time will be spent watching the scenes unfold.

Conclusion

An ok interactive thriller.
