The latest game going offline is a 3v3 tactical shooter that's been online for less than a year. The core gameplay feels kind of like Counter-Strike but cyberpunk and featuring some novel gameplay mechanics. The core gameplay is a classic search and destroy, where one team tries to plant a bomb while the other tries to defend the bombsite from the team with the bomb.
Search and destroy
The core gameplay, while generic, is actually pretty solid and is pretty skill-based. I do find the abilities from each Sponsor (class) pretty interesting and it adds a bit of a twist to the engagements. The core selling point for this game is the Duality mechanic, where each player can control two bodies within each match. The player can swap back and forth between their two bodies and also teleport their bodies by throwing marking pucks. To be honest, while the idea is pretty novel, the actual utility of this mechanic was pretty limited for my playing (mainly queuing by myself). Other than some basic flanking maneuvers, the Duality for me basically served as an extra life. The slightly cell-shaded cyberpunk design is pretty cool but the lack of interesting cosmetics (a hallmark of live service games) makes progression kind of pointless and character design very generic. There was also a guild mechanic for leaderboards but for some reason the player got placed in a random guild with no option to pick and the guilds really didn’t incentivize the player to play much.
Abilities from Sponsors
A bit generic but some interesting ideas.
