# Review

I am rewatching Archer, which follows Sterling Archer (H. Jon Benjamin), a narcissistic but effective agent working for the spy agency ISIS. The show revolves around Archer and his colleagues' espionage misadventures.

I first came across Archer when my high school gym teacher admitted to our class that this was his guilty pleasure. I automatically assumed the show was for middle-aged people. Upon checking it out, however, I was pleasantly surprised at how good it is. The story is hilarious and are parodies of traditional spy plots and tropes. The rapid-fire banter and dysfunctional workplace dynamics (such as Archer's mommy issues) are hilarious and reminds me of a more mature The Office.

Being employees of a spy agency, the characters are memorable and distinctive. The voice cast is also exceptional; the star is definitely Benjamin's self-destructive and obnoxious Archer, but the supporting cast, such as the bookish Cyril (Chris Parnell) and the foil Lana (Aisha Tyler), are fun as well. I also really enjoyed the retro design of the show's setting.

A very strong first season.
