I just think that, uh, things have a way of working themselves out.

Review

Walter White (Bryan Cranston) is a high school chemistry teacher who finds out that he’s been diagnosed with Stage III lung cancer. In a bid to leave some money for his wife Skyler (Anna Gunn) and his son Walter Jr. (RJ Mitte), Walt decides to cook meth with his former student Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul).

The show does feel dated, both with its setting and cinematography; it’s in the awkward age where it feels old, but not old enough to be vintage. Despite this, the story is pretty original and exciting. The supporting cast such as Dean Norris’ Hank, Betsy Brandt’s Marie, and Maximino Arciniega’s Krazy-8 are all solid. Cranston’s Walt is an excellently written character, and his character development arc is very well-executed; Paul’s Jesse makes a good foil for Walt. The pacing can be slow at times as the show explores side story arcs. Overall the show is good, but maybe due to the raising standards of TV shows since 2008, I didn't find it as amazing as everyone claims it to be.

Conclusion

Good crime TV show with an interesting plot and a solid cast.
