Are there any other reasons aside from this trip that you feel that you would not be able to be a good juror for this matter?

Review

The American TV show The Office is one of my favoutire sitcoms of all time. When a friend suggested that I should watch this, as this is made by two of writers of The Office, Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky, I knew I had to check it out.

The premise of the show is that a person (Ronald Gladden) is asked to participate on the jury of a fictitious civil trial. The other jurors as well as the judge and other participants of the case are all actors and actresses. Ronald doesn’t know this and hilarity ensues as he’s placed in awkward and funny situations by the cast.

I can see the similarities between the humour in Jury Duty and that of The Office. Many of the jokes revolve around very uncomfortable and cringeworthy situations. The characters are also exaggerated and quirky; my favourite being James Marsden as an exaggerated version of himself, who resembles the role of Michael Scott in The Office. Meeki Leeper’s meek Noah is also hilarious. Unlike The Office, though, because the film is a documentary with a real life person, the jokes and puns aren’t as frequent and as outrageous. Despite this, it’s an interesting show concept that’s very well executed. Ronald is very likeable and the parts at the end where the showrunners and cast members go over how the show is made is very interesting.

Conclusion

A unique show idea with some very funny jokes.
