Isn't that a delicious cheese sandwich?

Review

I’m a big fan of the game show Documental, where Japanese comedians are placed in a room and compete to make one another laugh without laughing themselves. I was surprised that Prime did one for Canadian comedians, hosted by Jay Baruchel.

The variety of comedians participating is pretty awesome, ranging from OGs such as Colin Mochrie (Whose Line Is It Anyway?) and David Foley (The Kids in the Hall), to newer comedians such as Andrew Phung (Kim’s Convenience) and K. Trevor Wilson (Letterkenny). The show also featured many gimmicks such as having a live band and special visiting guests. Baruchel is also a great host, who kept the energy level high and laughed along with all the jokes.

There were many funny bits, especially from more aggressive players such as Tom Green and Colin Mochrie. It was also funny watching players try not to laugh, especially Mae Martin and Jon Lajoie. Unfortunately, as with Documental, the downside is that unfunny players who don’t laugh end up lasting longer than funny players who do laugh. The game should fix the imbalance by making players try to make one another laugh, instead of just not participating.

Conclusion

A really funny show; really hoping for season 2 or a show with American comedians.
