Previous Squid Game review:
Season three closes off the story of Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae) and the latest iteration of the Squid Game death tournament. This season focuses much more on the competition and the last few games get more bleak and dramatic.
Despite the innovation in having new games and the incredible performances of many of the characters such as Lee's Gi-hun and Park Sung-hoon's Cho Hyun-ju, this season feels dragged out and not nearly as exciting as the first season. Many of the show's themes are revisited over and over again while many of the plot points, such as those surrounding Jun-hee (Jo Yu-ri), and Yong-sik (Yang Dong-geun) and Geum-ja (Kang Ae-shim), are painfully predictable. The performances of the VIPs are horrible and cringeworthy as always, and the ending also feels incredibly unsatisfying and rushed (despite the season dragging on earlier).
They probably should've condensed this with season 2.
