And here I am. Bloodied but not beaten. Down but not out. And from this point on, this city and everything in it belongs to me.

Review

I was a bit disappointed that there was in fact no episode 10 in Season One, but I am glad that they renewed the show for another season. The story follows Dwight “The General” Manfredi (Sylvester Stallone), a mafia capo who is banished to Tulsa Oklahoma after spending 25 years in prison for refusing to snitch on his family. Season One shows Dwight making friends and building a criminal organization in Tulsa.

Expect lots of funny banter in New York accents, polished outfits, and a fun performance by Stallone. This show isn’t particularly profound but it's self aware and immensely entertaining. Almost every character, such as Martin Starr’s Bohdi and Jay Will’s Tyson serve as foils for Stallone’s Dwight and it just works. There were many classic tropes that were well-executed. The show feels like an 80’s mob movie shifted to the 21st century; there were even some crypto references.

Conclusion

Stallone at his best.
