Review

This is the grand finale of the Harry Potter series, and Rowling blew it out of the water. The expectations were sky-high, and she shattered them all. This book builds up to the fated confrontation between Voldemort and Harry all the while tying up loose ends and adding additional details to the plot. The plot of the entire series has been so intricately interwoven and it was pretty amazing that Rowling was able to satisfactorily conclude the series, especially given her very short timeline.

The book uncovers more of Dumbledore's past and it also features one of the greatest character redemption arcs ever. As with the previous two books, this book reads like a young adult novel, full of sentimental friendship drama, but it also creates an atmosphere of fear and hopelessness, which the characters must have felt when Voldemort comes back into power. The book builds up to the climax of the series veeeeeery slowly, but the final conflict is so satisfying that it makes up for the relatively slow first three quarters of the book.

Conclusion

An apt conclusion to one of the greatest fantasy book series ever written.
