# Review

This film basically retells the same story as the game and it's more of an anthology of different short films that follows one another. Dante is a knight returning from the Crusades to find his family murdered and his wife's soul taken by Lucifer. Guided by Virgil the poet, Dante travels through nine levels of hell to rescue his wife.

I really liked the idea of having multiple short films, as the story, much like the video game, is very linear; the distinctive changes in art styles between the short films, ranging from Western cartoons to Japanese anime, adds some unpredictability to the movie. The voice acting is pretty incredible, featuring famous actors such as Graham McTavish (Dante) and Mark Hamill (Alighiero).

A hidden gem of a video game movie.
