I swear your life will always matter more to me than my own.
Previous Mission Impossible reviews:
Tom Cruise returns as Ethan Hunt and with his crew, Ving Rhames’ Luther, Simon Pegg’s Benji, and Rebecca Ferguson’s Ilsa, he must face off against his greatest adversary yet: an omnipotent AI.
Personally, I’m not the biggest fan of splitting films into multiple parts; I would’ve preferred a film with a complete story. Despite this, I actually really like the premise of the plot because it’s grounded enough in reality to be possible but with enough science fiction elements to be impressive. The plot itself is a bit convoluted, and some characters, such as Hayley Atwell’s Grace and Esai Morales’ Gabriel, feel shoehorned in. I did like Pom Klementieff’s deadly Paris, though. The action sequences are impressive, especially near the end of the film; this film has some of the most ambitious action sequences of the entire franchise. Unfortunately, the script has too many side tangents and forced scenarios, which took away from the overall experience.
An interesting premise and some impressive action sequences.
