You are a civilian. In Hong Kong, I am Michael Jackson and you are Toto.

You mean Tito! Toto is what we ate for dinner last night.

Review

Inspector Lee (Jackie Chan) and Detective Carter (Chris Tucker) are back and this time, while on vacation in Hong Kong, a bomb goes off in the US Consulate General and two US Customs agents are killed. Lee and Carter get embroiled in a Triad counterfeit money scheme.

The film follows the same buddy cop formula as the first film and it doesn’t feel as fresh or original. Despite this, Chan’s Lee and Tucker’s Carter were both very fun to watch. Chan’s athletic action scenes will never cease to be entertaining while Tucker’s comedic one liners are iconic. The supporting cast, which includes Zhang Ziyi’s Hu Li, John Lone’s Ricky Tan, and Roselyn Sánchez’s Isabella are all pretty solid, if not a tad corny. My favourite supporting character has got to be Don Cheedle’s Kenny, who owns a Chinese restaurant.

Conclusion

Not as refreshing as the first film, but still very entertaining.
