In this cute autumn RPG, you must rescue your kidnapped sibling from monsters during Halloween. The core gamplay involves trick-or-treating around your neighbourhood and partaking in various side-quests. The combat is turn-based and the characters can use different abilities based on the costume they're wearing and can optimize their build with stamps that they acquire.
Turned-base combat
Both the fall setting and the cute story gives the game a very cozy feel while the signature Double Fine dialogue is funny and charming. The combat is decent but is on the easier side, especially if you take the time to do the side-quests. The combat can also be very repetitive as there isn't much enemy variety.
Turned-base combat
A shallow and accessible RPG.
There is just one DLC for this game.
This DLC is an epilogue to the main story. The characters travel to Repugnia, the monsters' home world. They must help Grubbins on their uprising against the evil Araxia.
The same gameplay and humour from the main game are carried over into the DLC. While not revolutionary, it's a fun addition that adds more Costume Quest.
