Review

The story of Clementine (Melissa Hutchison) continues in the third installment of The Walking Dead episodic video game franchise. In this season, however, the story focuses on a new character Javier (Jeff Schine), a former professional baseball player who now travels with his sister-in-law Kate (Shelley Shenoy) and her two children, Gabe (Raymond Ochoa) and Mariana (Vale de la Maza).

The story is formulaic at this point, especially with regards to the antagonists, but I enjoyed seeing Clementine’s character change from that at the end of Season Two. The new characters are decent, the highlights being the badass Jesus (Brandon Keener) and the morose Dr. Lingard (Yuri Lowenthal). The characters, including Javier, just aren’t as memorable or deep as characters from previous games such as Lee and Kenny. The gameplay remains the same as the previous games.

Conclusion

Decent story but repetitive at this point.
